ABOUT THE FOUNDATION

The Millernease Griffin Scholarship Foundation was established in 2020 as a promise to benefit the students of the greater Atlanta area and surrounding counties. Created in partnership with Reidway Trucking, LLC, it’s mission is to support teens throughout their scholastic journey to the unconquerable heights as they pursue higher education. The foundation’s top priority was established in the memorial of the late Millernease Griffin; The grandmother of principal planner Tyler Reid and his older brother Tyree Reid of Reidway Trucking, LLC. Our first recipient – awarded $1,000 helped a young scholar attend a 4-year University during the 2020 pandemic, each and every year we plan to invest in another deserving young scholar for years to come.

In 1933, Millernease Griffin was born in the city of Newnan, GA and became a woman of power, respect, and faith through the years she lived on this earth. She lived on the premise of trusting God’s Holy word and living by the golden rule which states “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”. She touched the lives of family, friends, and colleagues as it was easily shown by her admiration in her hometown. Becoming a grandmother to Tyler and Tyree was one of her greatest accomplishments in life.

This foundation was dedicated to the memory of Millernease as she was headstrong on education and the pursuit of success. She always pushed her grandchildren to be all they can be and never let anyone tell you what you can or cannot do in life. The MGSF is an opportunity that highlights those students who admire the art of education and are committed to investing in their future. This award is applied directly to the recipient’s college tuition and is not intended for use of free spending.

“Between the earth and sky above, nothing can match a grandmother’s love.”

HONOR

INSPIRE

We are committed to directly supporting youth by providing annual financial assistance to deserving high school seniors pursuing higher education. Our scholarships alleviate the burden of tuition, helping students focus on their academic goals without the stress of financial insecurity.

We honor the hard work, resilience, and determination of Metro Atlanta's youth by recognizing students who exemplify academic excellence, leadership, and community service. Each year, we publicly celebrate our scholarship recipient with a special recognition that highlights their accomplishments and aspirations.

Our foundation seeks to inspire the next generation by showcasing real-life examples of success and perseverance, just like Millernease Griffin embodied throughout her life. We aim to spark ambition through storytelling, community engagement, and events that connect youth with role models who look like them and share similar backgrounds.

ADONIS MCCRARY

2025 Recipient

With a spirit rooted in resilience, service, and visionary leadership, Adonis is the proud Valedictorian of Frederick Douglass High School Class of 2025 — a title that only scratches the surface of his brilliance and impact. A scholar, community servant, athlete, and mentor, Adonis has dedicated his life to becoming a change-maker for the very city that raised him, with dreams as bold as becoming the future Mayor of Atlanta. Rather than allowing life tragedy define him, Adonis has used his experiences as fuel for his mission: to break generational cycles of poverty, violence, and inequality in his community.

As the founder of the North Star Operation Initiative, Adonis created a city-wide Christmas toy drive that delivered joy to underprivileged children in Atlanta Public Schools — a movement inspired by his own childhood Christmas memories. His accolades speak volumes; Yet it is his role as President of the College Park Youth Coalition where Adonis’s voice resonates most. Through mentorship and civic engagement, he empowers youth to rise above their circumstances — just as he did — offering pathways to leadership, education, and purpose. His dream enterprise would continue this legacy by pairing students with mentors, providing career-readiness skills, and offering tools to combat violence through mental health and community engagement.
